Consulate Porto Alegre Biometric Collection

1 November, 2017

Beginning Friday, December 1, 2017, the U.S. Consulate in Porto Alegre will collect biometrics (fingerprints and photos) at the time of the visa interview. We will no longer require applicants to attend a separate biometric appointment at the applicant service center (ASC) prior to their visa interview appointments at the Consulate.

Thursday, November 30 will be the last day for biometric appointments at the ASC on Avenida Carlos Gomes for applicants requiring visa interviews. Those who qualify for the interview waiver program may still drop off their passports, photos, and other supporting documents at the ASC as is current practice.

We expect these changes will make the visa application process convenient for applicants, and demonstrate our commitment to improved customer service.
